RECONVERT Chair

Digital Systems

Materials & Processes

The construction sector generates 46 million tonnes of waste annually in France, yet this recovery potential is largely underutilised. The RECONVERT industrial chair helps integrate the selective deconstruction of buildings approach and organise flows of the resulting products and materials for better reuse and recycling at the local level.

The Chair is uniquely positioned to lead deconstruction processes using digital tools. In particular, it aims to produce scenarios to help stakeholders in the ecosystem manage flows of these resources.

These digital tools will be developed based on employment studies on the sector and an ad hoc geographic information system that identifies stakeholders in the sectors. They will also take into account the constraints involved in the territorial management of resource flows and the historical “construction sites” of the Chair’s industrial partners. RECONVERT forms a comprehensive value chain through its partners: TEAM² competitiveness cluster, Neo Eco, Public Land Establishment in Hauts-de-France, Rabot Dutilleul Construction, Nacarat, batiRIM, Suez, the TVES, Clersé and CRIsTAL laboratories at U-Lille and the two research centres: Materials & Processes and Digital Systems at IMT Nord Europe.
