Materials & Processes

COMPOVERT project, cross-border development of functional composites with plant reinforcements/ Valorization of local by-products.

The aim of the INTERREG VI FWVL COMPOVERT project is the cross-border development of functional composite materials with plant reinforcements, in particular through the valorization of local (sub)products such as lignocellulosic fibers and lignin. The development of recyclable biocomposites with original antioxidant, antibacterial or antistatic properties will broaden the scope of applications to meet the specifications of manufacturers throughout the cross-border area.

The CERI MP of IMT Nord Europe leads the Applied Research module’s “Functional biocomposite shaping” activity, focusing on the development, processing and characterization of thermoplastic composites with natural reinforcement using plastics processing technologies. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of tools and techniques for the manufacture of continuous-fiber semifinished products and their processing by thermocompression, filament winding and additive manufacturing.
