The BBOBB project – Building Based on Biobased

This project aims to develop a new business model by enabling a change of scale by using of bio-based materials in construction and roads.
A number of pioneers in the field of construction have spoken out about the urgent need and the opportunities for using bio-based materials. Yet various obstacles prevent them from moving forward. The BBoBB project therefore aims to develop, strengthen and prove the existence of value chains for bio-based construction with the aim of empowering all those involved in the value chain to collectively contribute to meeting the challenges of our time.

The issues involved in the BBOBB project

In the search for new business models to address the climate challenge, the use of biobased materials in construction (built environment, interior construction and civil engineering) provides a unique opportunity that we wish to develop.

16 partners (including universities, engineering schools, regions, companies, architecture firms) from five European countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France) are involved in this project with a total budget of €3.5 million. Together, they are working to design, develop and strengthen value chains for the use of biobased materials. This partnership includes all the links in the value chain.

IMT Nord Europe will play a significant role that will allow us to offer new solutions promoting ecological transition by developing new biobased materials and reducing the carbon footprint.
