Canal Simulator

Digital Systems

This platform enables the simulation of phenomena related to the operation of a laboratory-scale canal. It can be used to study the impacts of locks, barges, diversions, pumping and precipitation on the canal.

Different models of locks, barges and tidal turbines associated with navigation and water conditions will be studied.

This platform responds to the economic and climate challenges of transferring part of road traffic to river traffic.

Themes include energy management, canal mechanics, low impact long distance communications, autonomous river vehicles, erosion studies, wave break implementation and sensor equipment integrated into structures. This simulator enables the tests needed to develop new techniques and technologies that will be implemented on French and European canals.
