IMT Nord Europe hosted its 5th Young Northern Polymerists’ Day (JPN5)

#JPN5 at IMT Nord Europe

On 27 June 2024, IMT Nord Europe had the honour of hosting the 5th Young Northern Polymerists’ Day (JPN5). This event, organised by the Northern Division of the GFP – French Group for Polymer Studies and Applications – aims to promote exchanges between polymerists in the Hauts-de-France region.

A rich and diverse program

The JPN5 offered a remarkably rich and varied program that highlighted recent advances and future challenges in the field of polymer science. Plenary sessions, oral presentations and poster presentations allowed participants to share their research and discuss the latest technological innovations.

Several oral and poster presentation sessions:
Young researchers in polymer and composite materials and plastics from regional academic laboratories such as UMET (U. Lille), GEMTEX (ENSAIT Roubaix), LG2A (UPJV Amiens), UDSMM (ULCO Dunkerque) and CERI MP (IMT Nord Europe) had the opportunity to present their work. Their oral and poster presentations fostered exchanges between the young researchers and experienced specialists from laboratories throughout the region.

Plenary sessions:
The highlights included plenary sessions moderated by internationally renowned experts.

Vincent Lapinte (ICGM Montpellier) and Olivier Lhost (TotalEnergies) gave captivating presentations, covering topics ranging from new polymer synthesis methods to innovative multi-sectoral applications.

“The JPN5 was an immense success. The young researchers (interns, PhD students and postdoctoral students) were able to engage with their peers as well as with more senior academic researchers and Dr LHOST from TotalEnergies. The wide range of topics included the development of new polymer and composite materials with specific properties (e.g. stimuli-responsive, fire-resistant, electroactive) and various recycling channels. Rich exchanges occurred during the question-and-answer games after the sessions, the poster presentations, the tour of the plastics platform and while enjoying the sunshine in Douai during breaks.”
