Full Professor at Institut Mines-Télécom Nord Europe (IMTNE) in the department of Atmospheric Sciences and Environmental Engineering. I did a PhD at the University of Bordeaux in a physical chemical laboratory (ISM), working on elementary processes of atmospheric interest (radical – radical reactions). Moving to the University of Wuppertal, Germany, I turned to a more global investigation of atmospheric processes, focusing on the oxidation mechanisms of aromatic compounds using atmospheric simulation chambers. I joined ‘Ecole des Mines de Douai’ (now IMTNE) in 2001 where I was appointed Professor in 2014. My research activities aim at understanding the chemical complexity of the atmospheric system, focusing on the chemistry of volatile organic compounds and the role of this chemistry in air quality (formation of photooxidants) and climate change (secondary organic aerosols) issues.
