Prof. Dr. Ing. Patricia KRAWCZAK is a Full Professor at IMT Nord Europe, Douai, France. After having managed the research and education department ‘’Polymers and Composites Technology & Mechanical Engineering’’ (TPCIM) of IMT Nord Europe for almost 20 years (2000-2019), she has been in charge of the strategic program “Technology Platforms” of the Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT), Palaiseau, France since 2019.
Ingénieur Mines Douai, France (1989) with Diplomarbeit at the Institut für Kunststoffverarbeitung (IKV) of Rheinisch-Westfälische Technnische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen, Germany. Master (DEA) degree (1990), PhD degree (1993) and post-doctoral diploma of Habilitation (HDR) as Research Director (1999) from University of Lille, France.
Gained deep experience in the field of plastics and composites engineering through numerous collaborations with industrial companies. Participated as a principal investigator in numerous national and European industry-oriented projects. Supervised a number of master’s and PhD students.
(Co-)authored over 400 journal or conference publications and book chapters. Named amongst the World’s Top 2% Scientists (2021, 2022 & 2023 data-updates compiled by Stanford University).
Associate Editor of Frontiers in Materials (section Polymeric and Composite Materials) and Materials (section Manufacturing Processes and Systems) . Editorial Board Member of Express Polymer Letters, JMST Advances, Materials (section Advanced Composites) and Techniques de l’Ingénieur (traité Plastiques et Composites).
Member of the Management Board of the French Society of Plastics Engineers (SFIP), and of the Scientific and Strategic Advisory Board of the French Technical Centre for Plastics and Composites (IPC).
Holds two decorations at the Knight (Chevalier) level in the National Order of the Legion of Honor (Legion d’Honneur, the highest French order of merit, for public service and professional activity with eminent merits) and in the National Order of Academic Palms (Palmes Académiques, for valuable services to the universities in education and teaching).
Current research interests: advanced processing/manufacturing technologies, physics and mechanics of polymers and polymer composites (including bio-based materials).
