Experimentation on FUsion/SOLidification phenomena of phase-change materials for thermal energy storage (EFUSOL)

The EFUSOL test bench is an experimental facility used to analyse fusion-solidification phenomena of phase-change materials in different geometric configurations both locally and globally. It can be used to demonstrate the influence of heat transfers on fusion-solidification kinetics, in particular by visualising and characterising the development of the fusion-solidification front combined with local thermometry. It is adaptable and can therefore be used with different phase-change temperature levels. It can also be combined with advanced visualisation techniques using less intrusive measurements which provide access to local speed and temperature fields. Finally, it can also be used to analyse local and global thermal phenomena during sensible thermal storage (in a single phase).
